Acharn Biomass Gasification CHP Plant

The Acharn project is a 6MW advanced gasification CHP plant fuelled by locally sourced virgin wood, located in Perthshire, Scotland. The site will export electricity to the national grid, as well as produce thermal energy to be utilised in a wood drying facility. Padd Energy were brought in as Client Technical Advisors to oversee the completion and commissioning of the project.

The Acharn project is estimated to produce electricity to power 13,530 homes and save 21,889 tonnes of CO2 emissions per year. The project will be one of the first CHP plants in the UK to utilise this advanced gasification process. Our comprehensive expertise and experience in similar energy generation projects has been invaluable to the client to provide them with the confidence to commission the plant.
